Kailash Rural Municipality of Makawanpur has installed electronic attendance in 10 schools to make teachers and staff disciplined and their attendance transparent.

The municipality's education officer, Dipendra Adhikari, said that electronic attendance has been installed and implemented in 6 secondary schools and 4 basic schools within the municipality.

Similarly, electronic attendance has been installed in Basic School in Kailash-1, Saraswati Secondary School in Kailash-2, Krishna Secondary School in Kailash-5, and Phakti Secondary School in Kailash-7, the education officer said.

‘We have arranged electronic attendance in schools to discourage the tendency of not attending school on time and not staying in school even until 4 pm,’ said Lok Bahadur Moktan, chairman of the rural municipality. ‘We expect that e-attendance will make teachers and employees disciplined.’

The municipality has stated that the electronic attendance device was installed in schools with the aim of replacing the teacher attendance register after installing electronic attendance, making teachers’ attendance management transparent, disciplined and technology-friendly, and connecting it with the central government’s integrated attendance management system.

There are 43 schools in the municipality, including 6 secondary schools, 4 junior secondary schools and 33 primary schools. According to the municipality’s education branch officer, 4,892 students are studying in 43 community schools within the municipality.
