Police have arrested two people with banned drugs while checking vehicles at the Ratomate checkpoint in Makawanpur.
On Monday at 1 pm, while checking a passenger bus (Ga 2 Kha 1560) heading from Pokhara to Janakpur on the East-West Highway at Ratomate, Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-15, 6 kg 760 grams of marijuana were recovered from the bag of 20-year-old Suman Tamang of Raksirang Rural Municipality-1, the District Police Office, Makawanpur has informed. Tamang has been taken into custody and an investigation into the drug offense has been initiated, the police said.
Similarly, at 4:20 pm on the same day, at the Ratomate checkpoint, while checking a passenger EV vehicle (B.P. 6-001 Ja 0451) coming from Birgunj to Narayanghat, 2 grams 120 milligrams of a substance that looks like brown heroin was found in the possession of 33-year-old Ram Bahadur Gole of Padampokhari, Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-13.
Further investigation is underway by obtaining an extension of time from the Makawanpur District Court, Hetauda, for those arrested with the seized drugs in both incidents.
