With the onset of winter, dengue and scrub typhus infections among patients visiting hospitals in the district have been on the decline. Compared to last year, the number of infections of both diseases has decreased in Mangsir.

According to the Public Health Office, while 113 people were diagnosed with dengue in Mangsir last year, only 12 have been infected with the disease this year. According to the head of the office, Nirmal Ghimire, out of 5,923 samples tested this year, 174 have been diagnosed with dengue so far.

By Mangsir last year, 1,463 people had been diagnosed with the disease. One person died while testing 17,353 people during the last year.

Ghimire said that 160 people in Shrawan last year, 349 in Bhadau, 487 in Asoj, 334 in Kartik and 113 in Mangsir were diagnosed with dengue in the district last year. This year, 42 people in Shrawan, 44 in Bhadau, 29 in Asoj, 47 in Kartik and 12 in Mangsir have been diagnosed with dengue.

He said that dengue infection has been found less in Chitwan this year compared to last year. 'The infection of this disease decreases as the temperature rises,' he said.

This disease is seen more in urban areas.  The disease is transmitted through the bite of female Aedes mosquitoes.  He said that it is necessary to study which species of dengue is and how it has developed.
