Sexually transmitted diseases are also on the rise among HIV/AIDS infected people in the district. 35 of the HIV/AIDS infected people here have been diagnosed with sexually transmitted diseases.

According to Dr. Pramod Poudel, senior physician at Bharatpur Hospital, during the tests conducted in the past 10 months, 1,040 people were found to be sexually active. They were found to have genital warts. According to him, sexually active diseases have started increasing among those infected during unprotected sexual intercourse. According to the hospital, tuberculosis has been found in seven of the AIDS infected. This disease was found in that number during the tests of 93 people. There are currently 1,243 AIDS infected people in the district. Out of which 34 people are taking medicine from Baghauda Hospital in Madi, while 1,209 people are taking medicine from the ART Center in Bharatpur. Poudel informed that 66 new infections were found during the tests conducted in various places in the district in the past 10 months. He said that during the tests of 285 people, that number was found to be infected with AIDS. According to him, 104 patients have been added to the ART Center of Bharatpur Hospital for taking medicine during this period. He said that patients transferred from other districts, along with the newly infected people added here, are also receiving services from here.

According to Krishnahari Sapkota, program coordinator of the AIDS Health Foundation at Bharatpur Hospital, 65 patients who were taking medicine have been transferred from here. He informed that 28 people have stopped taking medicine. He said that 13 of the infected people here have died.

He said that the attitude towards those infected with AIDS has not changed yet. He said that even ambulances find it difficult to bring the infected people to the hospital for treatment.
