The road expansion work in the Hetauda market area is set to begin from Mangsir 20. The Road Division Office, Hetauda, had issued a notice on Mangsir 20 to the concerned persons to remove the permanent and temporary structures encroaching on the road within 15 days.

If the structures encroaching on the road are not removed by Mangsir 19, the Road Division Office, Hetauda, will demolish them using dozers from the morning of Mangsir 20, said Guru Prasad Adhikari, Chief of the Road Division Office, Hetauda.

"Permanent and temporary structures encroaching on the road will be removed from the morning of Mangsir 20 in four areas," he said. The District Police Office, Makawanpur, has stated that the movement of vehicles in the main part of the market will be prohibited after the structures are removed. Arrangements have been made for vehicles to move through the bypass road during that time, according to the District Traffic Office, Hetauda. The District Administration Office, Makawanpur has formed a 'task force' to expedite the road expansion.

A meeting of stakeholders held at the District Administration Office, Makawanpur on Wednesday formed the task force under the coordination of Engineer Yadav Subedi of the Road Division Office, Makawanpur. The committee includes representatives from Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City, District Police Office, Survey Office, Water Management Board, Forest Office, Nepal Electricity Authority and Telecommunications Authority.

The task force will be based at the Road Division Office, while the team has been tasked with marking, painting and taking necessary legal action against permanent and temporary structures built encroaching on the road boundary under Mahendra Highway and Tribhuvan Highway. The team has already started preliminary work including miking on Wednesday.

According to Makawanpur Chief District Officer Basanta Adhikari, continuous coordination is being done with the concerned bodies to ensure that essential services including electricity, drinking water and telephone are not disrupted during the road expansion. The Chief District Officer said that road expansion is essential to make Hetauda, which is also the provincial capital, a livable and beautiful city.

He claimed that the work will not be stopped under any circumstances as funds have been secured from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the project. The police administration claims that the road expansion work in Hetauda, which has been limited to the publication of notices, will not be the same as in the past.

‘If the homeowners themselves remove the structures, the road expansion will be easy. The work will be carried out in a way that everyone feels a sense of victory,’ said the Pradya Adhikari. For this work, the Road Division Office, Hetauda, had issued a public notice last Friday, giving a deadline of 15 days to remove the encroached structures.

According to the notice, permanent and temporary houses, huts and other structures built within 25/25 meters on the right and left sides of the road from Ratmate to Buddha Chowk to Rapti Bridge and from Buddha Chowk to Samari Bridge have been requested to be removed.
