A team of specialist doctors has arrived in a remote village of Makawanpur in search of cancer patients. A team of a dozen specialist doctors from Nepal Cancer Hospital and Research Center Kathmandu and Silverline Hospital have come to conduct cancer-related health examinations at the Rudra Smriti Community Health Unit building in Makawanpurgadhi Rural Municipality-4.

The health check-up of patients with uterine and breast cancer and post-menopausal diseases has been conducted.

Menuka Dahal of the local organizer Jagran Savings and Loan Cooperative Society, who is also the program coordinator, informed that four people were diagnosed with uterine cancer. 160 people were tested for uterine cancer. The medical team has recommended immediate treatment for those with cervical cancer.

70 people were tested for post-menopausal diseases and 97 people also took the service of video X-ray. 320 people from the village underwent health check-up. The Rotary Club Makawanpur, Hetauda and Yala Rotary Kathmandu jointly organized the program to reach the village and find cancer patients.

The program coordinator Dahal said that the team of doctors who came to the village to find infections of complex diseases like cancer played an important role in expanding health access in rural areas. Locals received health services including cervical cancer screening, breast cancer screening, prostate cancer screening in men, as well as physician services and video X-rays.

Dahal informed that while in the previous year the cooperative had been providing health services only to its share members, from this year all citizens of the municipality have been provided with health check-ups. The cooperative has been organizing cancer screening camps every three years.
