Aiti Maya was working around the yard when a fire suddenly broke out on a solar panel and the house burned down. The house, which was built of stone and clay and had a thatched roof, caught fire and her clothes, utensils, 5 bushels of corn, millet, a gold-plated tilhari, and 70,000 rupees in cash, including more than 400,000 rupees, were burned to ashes, said local Bir Bahadur Chepang.
'She had saved her old age allowance money and the money she had sold her chickens and goats, and that was all that burned down,' he said. The mother of 5 sons and daughters had been living alone for the past 5 years.
