At a program organized at the Road Division Office in Hetauda on Thursday, Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava handed over a part of a 'Bailey Bridge' to Physical Infrastructure Minister Kulman Ghising.
Minister for Physical Infrastructure Ghising said that the Indian government had provided 10 'Bailey Bridges' last year, and that the highways were able to be put into operation immediately by placing 'Bailey Bridges' in places where bridges were washed away by floods and landslides. He informed that the Indian government had provided 10 'Bailey Bridges' with a length of more than 70 meters at the request of the Nepal government.
The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure has stated that 5 bridge stocks will be placed in the Road Department in Hetauda and 5 in Itahari. At the program, Indian Ambassador Srivastava discussed the historical relations between Nepal and India and said that Nepal and India are not only neighbors, but also allies and friends.
Secretary Sharma of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure informed that India has provided not only bridges but also technical assistance to Nepal. He said that Indian technicians will come to install the bridge.
