Two mountaineers, led by renowned Scottish mountaineer and author Leo Howling, have successfully climbed Galzen Peak, one of the 11 peaks of the Jugal mountain range located at the head of Jugal rural municipality in the district.

Mahendra Singh Thapa, President of the Sindh Sukute Tourism Entrepreneurs Association, said that a team led by Leo from Scotland and Henrik Bergsen from Norway successfully climbed the 6,151-meter-high Glazen Peak (Phurpa Jyo Jyo Peak) at 11 am on Saturday.

According to him, the team had decided to climb the peak as an alternative after repeated attempts to climb the Jugal-4 peak failed. “The climbing team has informed us that the peak has been touched through satellite,” he said.

There are 11 major peaks in the Jugal mountain range. Among them, seven international mountaineers had recently reached the area with the aim of climbing Jugal-4 and Jugal-5. The team, which came at the initiative of Thapa, had set a target of climbing Jugal-4 with a height of 5,936 meters and Jugal-5 with a height of 5,922 meters, respectively.

Earlier, on Sunday morning, a five-member team including UK's James Peter Williams Perrier successfully climbed the 5,922-meter-high Jugal-5 Himal. According to Milan Tamang, chairman of the Jugal Rural Municipality Tourism Committee, the rural municipality is providing necessary support to the climbing team.
