The 13th plenary meeting of the Congress Bagmati Province Working Committee and the joint meeting of the Provincial Assembly Parliamentary Party began on Friday in Nagarkot, Bhaktapur.

Inaugurating the meeting, Congress Bagmati Province President and Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya has urged the Nepali Congress Central Working Committee to fix a single general convention date, saying that two general convention dates have been made public. He said that the date of the general convention should be fixed only after resolving the dispute between active members of the Congress. He expressed dissatisfaction saying that two general convention schedules were made public in the party's central meeting, creating a dispute.

Chief Minister Baniya has urged the Central Working Committee to fix the general convention date within 15 days after resolving the membership dispute. He claimed that if the date of the Congress general convention is decided on the basis of majority and minority, the Congress will cease to exist and will return to the situation in 2051 BS.

At the program, Congress Bhaktapur President Durlav Thapa said that the Congress will be united after the provincial meeting. He said that Congress Bhaktapur is also preparing to organize a meeting of Congress presidents of all 77 districts soon. He said that the party will not be strong by spreading confusion among the people and party workers.

President Thapa said that even cadres in Australia had signed the petition, adding that such activities would break the unity of the Congress in the districts.

At the program, coordinator Krishnalal Bhandel stressed that no action should be taken to disrupt party unity and stressed that all disputes within the party should be resolved before going to the general convention.

130 members of the provincial committee, 37 members of the party's provincial assembly, and 13 chairmen of 13 districts are participating in the meeting. The meeting will continue until Saturday.
