The Nepali Army has launched a campaign to preserve and promote historical forts in the district. The Garuda Dal Battalion of the Nepali Army has launched a campaign to preserve historical forts located in various places in Dolakha.

Garuda Dal Ganapati Loksagar Katuwal said that the army has launched a campaign to clean the forts, build footpaths and protect the former structures. 

In the first phase, excavation, cleaning and conservation work was carried out on the structures built at that time at Deurali fort, which is connected to Sindhuli fort in Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-6, he said. He also said that information is being collected on where such forts are located throughout the district. 

Tamokoshi Rural Municipality has already protected Deurali fort here and opened it as a tourist area by building footpaths and necessary structures to reach it.

‘All the structures for the road and footpath to reach the fort have been prepared,’ she said, ‘Now that the mountains can be seen from all sides and the historical fort can be observed, the municipality has promoted Deurali fort as a major tourist destination.’
