The Hetauda bench of the Patan High Court, which was damaged by arson and vandalism by protesters on Bhadra 24, has become fully operational from today.

Due to arson and vandalism, the court was unable to provide any services till Bhadra 28. Partial services including habeas corpus and permission for arrest warrants had started from Bhadra 29. Appeals and writ registration had also started from Asoj 16. Hearings of cases and writ petitions have started from today, said Badri Prasad Lamichhane, Deputy Registrar of Hetauda Bench.

The ground floor of the main building of Hetauda Bench has been completely damaged due to arson. Bench number one of this court, which has four benches, has been destroyed by fire. All the furniture, computers, laptops and other belongings in all the rooms on the ground floor of the building were destroyed in the arson.

Lamichhane, the Deputy Registrar of Hetauda Bench, informed that all the furniture including 2 vehicles in the court premises and the number one bench on the second floor of the building was burnt. According to him, all the files in the court are safe. It has been reported that the court has suffered a loss of Rs 35.318 million and 449 thousand due to arson and vandalism.

The Hetauda Bench, which has a capacity of 7 judges, has 6 judges. All 6 of the judges here are women, including the registrar. Lamichhane, the Deputy Registrar, said that since the number one bench was burnt and destroyed, only three benches will be functioning in the court.
