On the day of Chhath, the banks of the Narayani River in Narayangadh are decorated to offer Arghya to the Sun. Chhath concludes after offering Arghya to the setting sun on Monday and the rising sun on the following Tuesday morning. Chhath, which is associated with the worship of the Sun, is celebrated with special rituals, faith and enthusiasm, especially in the eastern Terai, i.e. the Mithilanchal region.

With the increase in the population of the area, thousands of people gather on the banks of the Narayani River and other rivers and lakes of the district to offer prayers for Chhath Puja in Chitwan. The Terai Community Service Committee has been managing Chhath Puja in Chitwan.
