As the connection of the opposite side is being completed, additional pillars have begun to be erected in the middle of the river to strengthen it after the middle part of the bailey bridge buckled.
The reconstruction of the Miteri Bridge at Lhendkhola between Nepal and China has reached its final stage. It is reported that the necessary parts for the 'Belly Bridge' under construction with the financial and technical assistance of the Chinese government have been installed and the pillars have been erected.
The Chinese government has assisted in the reconstruction of the bridge after the concrete motorable bridge at that location was washed away by the flood in Lhendkhola on Asad 24.
As the construction of the bridge across the river was being completed, the middle part of the bailey bridge buckled, and Chinese technicians have started erecting additional pillars in the middle of the river to strengthen it.
Rasuwa Chief District Officer Rajesh Panthi said that the Miteri Bridge could be operational by Kartik 15, given the pace of the work. He said that the Chinese counterpart at the border has not given official information about the operation in this regard.
As goods will be imported as soon as the bridge is reconstructed, Chief Customs Officer Tulsi Prasad Bhattarai informed that his staff is ready to complete the customs process of the imported materials quickly.
