21 people arrested for gambling in Chitwan

Police have taken 21 people from two groups into custody on charges of gambling with card players, claiming to win and lose large sums of money during Tihar.

One group was taken into custody from a restaurant and the other from a village on Monday night.

District Police Spokesperson DSP Ravindra Khanal said that 10 people were taken into custody while playing cards at Odan Restaurant in Syauli Bazaar, Hakimchowk, Bharatpur Metropolitan City-10. DSP Khanal informed that Rs. 211,210 in cash and a book of cards were also recovered from them. Police took them into custody at 1:30 am on Monday.

Similarly, police took 11 people into custody while playing cards in Gaidaha, Khairhani Municipality-11, in the eastern part of the district, on Monday midnight. DSP Khanal said that Rs. 150,720 in cash and five books of cards were recovered from them.
