1 thousand and 100 small and big vehicles went to the capital by using the Pushpalal (Madhyapahari) public road, which was used as an alternative road after the BP highway was blocked by floods and landslides, till 2 pm on Monday.
According to the police, more than 14,000 passengers have reached Kathmandu so far through those vehicles.
According to the district traffic police office, the traffic on Pushpalal Marg has increased since Monday morning. Deputy Superintendent of Police of Dolakha Gyan Kumar Mahato said that the district traffic police and other police teams have been deployed to ease the traffic after the increase in traffic.
After the BP highway was blocked, the small and big vehicles left from Solukhumbu, Okhaldhunga, Khotang, Udaipur, Ramechhap and other places are going to the capital via Puspalalmarg and crossing the Manthali-Charikot road using the Arani highway.
Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal and Chief of Police Mahato went to the highway to monitor the increase in complaints of overcharging by public vehicles. Mahato informed that action was taken against 13 vehicles that charged excessive fare during monitoring and 27 passengers of those vehicles were refunded the extra fare.
"During a disaster, legal action will be taken if public vehicles using alternative highways charge higher fares," Mahato said, "Due to excessive traffic, police have been deployed and help desks have been set up in places." Most of the small and big vehicles left from Koshi and Madhes provinces are going towards the capital via Bardibas-Sindhuli-Khurkot-Manthali-Charikot. Due to excessive traffic, the police have asked the vehicles to take a rest at various places.
