The road from Hetaunda to the capital Kathmandu has been banned from operating vehicles at night. Makwanpur district administration office issued a public notice on Monday and banned the operation of vehicles on Hetaunda-Bhainse, Bhimfedi-Kulekhani-Fakhel, Kulekhani-Sisneri-Dakshinkali and Tribhuvan Rajpath from 6 pm to 5 am on Monday.
It is mentioned in the notice that it is prohibited to operate vehicles except for essential services at that time. Chief District Officer Skim Shrestha said that until further notice is issued, all road routes from Hetaunda to Kathmandu will remain closed at night.
Due to the rain, there is a risk of landslides on those roads at any time, so the movement of vehicles was stopped at night, she said.
Three of the four roads entering Kathmandu from Hetaunda have been operational since Monday morning. Kantilokpath is yet to be put into operation. Landslides have blocked the road in various parts of Kantilokpath.
