During the Gen-G movement in Kathmandu, 30-year-old Yam Bahadur Kandel alias Jire from Dhading Tripurasundari Rural Municipality-5, Thapa Kateri, was standing in front of the security personnel and saying that he had no fear and was not even sleepy because of his worries about the country.
Stating that the country is his mother, he told the security personnel to 'think about his mother' and the video went viral on social media. Kandel killed his 55-year-old mother Rammaya by hitting him with a foot on Sunday night.
Kandel, who had come home from Kathmandu to celebrate Dasain on October 12th, killed him last night (Sunday) at around 8:30 pm by hitting a stick at his house, according to SP Bhesraj Rizal, head of District Police Office Dhading.
According to Shankar Adhikari, the son of accused Kandel's stepmother, he was quarrelsome with his parents even on Sunday. He was angry and quarreling on various pretexts since afternoon. When his mother Rammaya told her son to 'go for treatment', he got even more angry and hit his mother in the yard with her hoof.
According to the officer, after killing the mother by hitting her neck three times, she threatened to kill the father as well. 'He confessed to his father that he believed everything he said . After that, he said that it was okay to kill his mother,' he said. The official said that he has been constantly harassing the neighbors who came to know about the incident.
The police who went from Salyantar and District Police Office Dhading to the nearby checkpoint arrested him from inside the house late at night.

A neighbor claimed that even after the murder of his mother, he said to his father, 'Now I will kill my elder brother'. "Seeing the progress of the brothers, it seems that the anger of his failure was spilled at home," said the neighbor.
Jire, who had come to Dhading on the previous Sunday to celebrate Dasain, was living alone in Kathmandu by renting a room. Now his mother's body has been kept at Dhading Hospital for post-mortem and the police is conducting further investigation into the incident.
