He said that all the vehicles should be in Chitwan by nine o'clock on Sunday night. After this time, DSP Khanal said that the vehicles coming to and from Chitwan will be kept in the 'safety holding space' outside the landslide affected area.
Earlier it was said that vehicles should leave Chitwan by 6 pm, but later the time was changed to 9 pm. He also said that further decisions will be taken regarding the operation of the vehicle based on the weather conditions.
The vehicles stopped at Chitwan due to the landslide started moving towards their destination from midday on Sunday. Narayangadh-Muglin, the main road connecting the capital Kathmandu and Pokhara with the eastern and western parts of the country, and the Prithvi highway were impassable due to landslides and rockfalls. Narayangadh-Muglin road was closed due to landslides and stones in Tuinkhola and Kalikhola.
Similarly, a landslide had occurred in Fischling of Chitwan section of Prithvi Highway. Due to the landslide, traffic was affected on these two road sections for the whole day on Saturday and till noon on Sunday.
