After the lightning damaged the Singti-Bahrbise transmission line, 89 megawatts of electricity produced in Dolakha hydropower project was wasted. Manoj Sah, Head of Khimti Grid Branch, said that 89 megawatts of five hydropower projects were cut off after the lightning that accompanied the storm on Wednesday afternoon damaged tower number 32 of the Singti-Baharbise 132 KV transmission line.

Khimti Grid Branch has been managing 6 substations at Ramechhap, Dolakha and Sindhupalchok. According to him, due to lightning, the wire of transmission line of tower number 32 in Kalinchok Rural Municipality-7 of Dolakha has been broken. Due to the broken wire, the electricity of five private sector hydropower plants could not be sent to the national transmission line.

"Lightning has damaged one of the towers of the main Singti-Baharbise transmission line, which is connected to the national electricity transmission line produced in Dolakha," he said. According to him, if possible, preparations are being made to repair and send the generated electricity to the national transmission line by Thursday evening as an alternative.

The electricity produced by the hydroelectric power plant built by the private sector in the northern area of Dolakha is being transported from Singti substation to Bahrbise substation through 132 kV transmission line and connected to the national transmission line. Saha informed that the transmission line, which is currently operating in a single circuit, will be put into operation in a double circuit after December.

On Wednesday afternoon, lightning damaged other transformers across the district, causing power outages in some areas of Dolakha. Electricity Authority Dolakha Center informed that the transformer is being replaced in the damaged area and the electricity service is not regular.
