BP Highway's potholes are confusing drivers and passengers

While the roads are being blocked due to landslides in places of the Prithviraj Highway, the BP Highway, which was damaged by last year's floods, has been closed for traffic. But drivers and passengers are often confused by potholes.

Out of the 50 km Nepalthok-Dhulikhel road, 22 km road from Nepalthok to Chowkidanda was damaged by Rosikhola flood and landslide last year. Out of the 22 km, about 12 km of the road has been washed away and landslides have also destroyed some places. The same road has now been put into operation temporarily.

Passengers and drivers say that there are many potholes on the temporary double-lane road. They say that only if the government agency fills the potholes on the temporary road of the short-distance BP highway that connects Madhyapahar and Eastern Nepal and Terai with the capital, the traffic will be easy.

EV driver Dipendra Karki says that there is a fear of damage when driving in potholes. There are many potholes on the road from Chowkidanda to Nepalthok.

"Even when the track falls from blacktop to the road, it should be done as if it were put in a ditch," he said, "It will be easier if the ditch, blacktop and the track are buried in the place where the road falls." The government should pay attention to the maintenance, even though BP is easy when the road is blocked in other areas.'' Passengers say that special attention should be paid to maintenance as the vehicles plying through Madhyapahari and Madan Bhandari Lokmarg also travel through BP highway.

The distance of BP highway from Bardiwas in Mahottari to Dhulikhel via Sindhuli is 160 km. Kailash Pun Magar, a traveler coming from the capital to Bardiwas to celebrate Dasain, said that there are potholes on one side and traffic jams on the other side.

Locals understand that since Ghumti is a winding road, it cannot be easily repaired if it is damaged too much. There are more potholes in Pipalbhanjang Dhunggrebhanjang Khurkot, Bara, Jhangajholi Ratmata, Nepalthok.

Chief District Officer Dineshsagar Bhusal said that even though the contract for the construction of a double-lane road washed away by Roshi and swept away by landslides has been awarded, the road office has been drawing attention to the rush and ease of passengers during the festival.
