According to the Chitwan District Police Office, a passenger bus was hit by a rock in the landslide.
Near Muglin on the Narayangadh-Muglin road, the Tuin River has been blocked by landslides day after week. Even if there is no big landslide, stones falling on the road from above have increased the risk even more.
Due to the landslide that occurred on Thursday night, the road is only open one-way until Friday morning. According to the Chitwan District Police Office, a passenger bus was hit by a rock in the landslide.
Spokesperson of Chitwan District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ravindra Khanal informed that a landslide occurred in the Tuin River at 10:55 on Thursday night. He said that the police and passengers removed the stones and opened the one-way road after an hour.
On Friday morning, the road office started clearing the landslide to open the road in both directions. From half past seven in the morning, the road is two-way. done Officials of the road office have been saying that it is dangerous to work at that place at night.
On Thursday night, a stone hit the windshield of the passenger bus No. 6 B 1522 coming from Kathmandu towards Narayangadh. DSP Khanal said that although the glass was broken, there was no other damage and the bus was on its way to its destination. Such incidents show that traveling through that road has become risky.
The Divisional Road Office of Bharatpur has been appealing to be alert and cautious while travelling. Landslides occur especially when it rains. Arjun Ghimire, engineer of the divisional road office, said that since Thursday, August 26, landslides have been occurring day by day.
"Even a big landslide does not come. But it falls with stones. If it falls at night, it is dangerous to work. Due to the landslide, the road has not been closed in both directions for a long time. At most it has been closed in both directions for two consecutive hours. Since September 11, the landslide has been falling day by day," said Engineer Ghimire.
He said that the machines are ready to clear the landslide. He said that two loaders and an excavator were placed in the area to remove a large landslide. 10 years ago, mountains had to be cut in places to make the Narayangadh Muglin road a wide two-lane road.
Even though the road expansion work was completed, a landslide started at Thanaun where the mountain was cut. The problem has now become somewhat common. But even in places where the mountain wall has been cut to make a wide bridge equal to the road, landslides are causing pain.
Even during the construction of a bridge on the Tuin River, which is two and a half kilometers from Muglin Bazar towards Narayangadh, the road has been blocked by landslides every monsoon for the past three years. There are small and large stones and rocks that are prone to fall on the road. The road division closed the road on the afternoon of June 12. Such stones and Gegran were cleaned. But it was difficult to clean everything.
Because it is an important road connecting the federal capital Kathmandu and the tourist city Pokhara with the eastern and western parts of the country, more than 10,000 small and large vehicles and many cargo trucks pass through this road every day. Thousands of commuters have been suffering due to road closures due to landslides during rainy season.
