Raksirang village of Makwanpur, which has a majority of Chepang community, has given a public holiday for three days during the Chonam (Nwangi) festival of the Chepang community.

On the 22nd of August, a cultural festival associated with Chepang community's identity  Chonaam (Nwangi) has fallen. The Raksirang rural municipality issued a public notice on Tuesday and informed that on the occasion of Chonam festival, the entire rural municipality will have three days of public holiday on August 21st, 22nd and 23rd. 

In the notice issued by Rajkumar Malla, chairman of the rural municipality, it has been mentioned that all government, non-governmental and educational institutions within the municipality will be closed for the said three days. For the past two years, the government of Bagmati Province has organized the Chonam (Nwangi), an important festival of Chepang Samduay on the 22nd of August. Chitwan, Makwanpur and Dhading in three districts have a custom of giving public holidays.
