After almost three weeks, the North Tatopani crossing, Kodari (Eco) of the Kodari highway, which was barely opened, has come to a standstill again due to landslides on Monday.
Due to the echo, when the road is blocked and the Tatopani border is closed, the businessmen are fed up as they have to return to the porters as before. According to Suraj Maharjan, information officer of the Charikot road division office, work is being done to repair and rebuild the road that was washed away due to rain on Monday.
"The area above Iko is continuously flowing, due to this geography, we are having difficulty, we are trying to open the road by Monday evening," he said.
Last Thursday, after the road was opened after almost three weeks, containers carrying goods started entering Nepal. From China Since Monday, only 14/15 container-leaping and Kodari market have come and stopped.
According to the Tatopani Dry Port and Customs Office, most of the containers of falfool entered the customs yard on July 17. During this period, fruits and spices such as apples, pears, mangoes, grapes, garlic, kiwi etc. were brought to Tatopani customs yard by porters.
During this period, businessmen suffered losses due to the rotting of millions worth of fruits. After the fruits and garlic started rotting in the container, they were carried by porters. "Now the same problem is going to repeat again, when will the Tatopani bridge be built easily?" asked businessman Sharda Prasad Parajuli.
He lamented that last year and this year fruit importers had to suffer losses due to floods. This is the sixth time that the crossing is being closed due to the eco section.
Police Inspector Jagat Bahadur Rai of Ela Police Kodari said that there is a problem in the entire checkpoint because of this section. "Due to the landslides and narrow terrain in (Eco Section) Kodari area, porters carrying heavy loads are having trouble walking," he said. over there
More than a dozen villages above it are at risk if the echo flow is not stopped. Locals are alarmed saying that the village will be at risk if the road is built using big machines. According to Chenga Sherpa, a member of Bhotekosi Rural Municipality 2, more than 70 houses in Chowki Dada, Gumbadanda, Milan Bazar, Lalbir Chowk, Kodari Gumba area, Kudung, Takpasa, Tartung, Kyusa, Chermang, Damar, Tamang Gumba villages are at risk.
