An accused who had been absconding for 15 months after raping a minor was arrested by the police on Monday.
36-year-old from Birgunj Metropolitan Municipality-13 Radhemai Toll who raped a 9-year-old girl of Hetaunda Sub-Metropolitan City-15 and absconded. As Mohammad Ansari was arrested from Birganj on Monday.
In coordination with District Police Office Parsa, Hetaunda police arrested Ansari while he was hiding near his house and brought him to Hetaunda for further investigation, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Spokesman of District Police Office Makwanpur Shyamu Aryal said.
Accused Ansari raped the minor girl on 8 Baisakh 2081 near the victim's house and escaped. The police said that they are conducting further investigation after obtaining permission from Makwanpur District Court Hetounda for necessary action against the arrested accused.
According to District Police Office Makwanpur, 41 cases of rape including 28 girls took place last year. 8 accused in the incident have absconded.
