Surgery of Kharkmai Chaunri

What you should know

Lalveer Thami of Kalinchok Rural Municipality-1 joined Chaunrigoth one and a half years ago. At that time, he bought a barn with 30 stalls. He also had a chaunri named Guntu, who was enjoying himself.

Guntu had a normal lump in his stomach . It started growing slowly. Every now and then he made a humming sound. All other chaunri surrounded Guntu .

Sometimes pus and blood could be seen from the lump in Guntu's stomach. It would have been easy to understand the pain if it was a human being, but the animal could not speak, Lalvir says, "maybe the knot in the stomach was hurting and sometimes it would cry out in a different voice."

According to him, Chounri is grazing collectively. They go . "If any one has a problem, the group comes and surrounds them," said Lalveer.

Once the Vice President of Kalinchok Rural Municipality came to Chaunrigoth for monitoring . After seeing Guntu's stomach abnormally, he was surprised . "It was only after he told the District Animal Services Office that he found out that Guntu had a tumor in his stomach," says Lalveer.

The District Animal Services Office analyzed the situation after receiving a photo of Guntu's condition. But surgery was impossible in Khark . Although there was a post of veterinarian in the animal service office, the doctor was not available at that time . Information Officer Prakash Thapa said that the photograph of the lump in Guntu's stomach was immediately sent to Bhimeshwar Municipality Animal Branch Officer and Veterinarian Nishan Dahal. Dahal gave the opinion that it could be a tumor in the stomach and if it can be surgically removed, the life can be saved . Only after asking Dahal for surgery, he decided to go to Khark .

'If you were a human being, you would be taken to the hospital when you are sick, you would understand all the pain,' he said, 'There was no reason not to go because he chose the profession of understanding and treating the pain of animals.' Thinking that he would return there after treatment if possible, he went to Khark with the necessary tools and medicine for surgery.

By the time he arrived, the tumor hanging on Chounri's stomach had become large . He said that because it was not possible to do X-ray for all the tests, the possibility of treatment was sought in Chamer. "Pus was coming from the outside of the tumor and the infection was spreading. We reduced the risk of bleeding during the operation and wrapped the chaunri," he said.

Dahal says that it is a new experience of his life as it is the first time he has undergone surgery in Khark . A 5 kg tumor was removed from Chounri's stomach. He said that while grazing, the infection has spread due to thorns or other objects.

Lalveer says that after the tumor surgery, Guntu is now going to pasture in the group. 'He came to Khark on time and treated it and saved it from damage,' he said, 'It has been a month since Guntu was planted. I am hopeful of getting pregnant.'
