It has been made legal that men can go to court for divorce as well as women. After the implementation of the new code in Makwanpur  The number of men knocking on the door of the court seeking legal remedies for divorce has also increased.

"Because the men also quickly agree to the complaint filed by the woman in the court for divorce through reconciliation, the verdict is usually given quickly," said Srestedar Bhandari, "because the woman did not agree to the complaint filed by the man, it takes time to make a decision." A legal provision has been made to wait a year for the husband and wife to live together without divorce. Chapter 3 of Part 3 of the New Civil Code provides for divorce.
