Chief Minister Bahadur Singh Lama has lost his status as the leader of Bagmati Province Congress Parliamentary Party. In the division of votes in the state Congress parliamentary party on Tuesday, Chief Minister Lama lost his position as the leader of the parliamentary party.

Only 15 MPs have voted in favor of Chief Minister Lama. Similarly, the majority, i.e. 22 MPs, were in favor of Indra Bahadur Baniyan.

Congress ministers even resigned for the change of Chief Minister in Bagmati. On Tuesday only, Minister of Water, Energy and Irrigation Shyam Bahadur Khadka gave on Monday .  Earlier on July 9, 4 ministers of the province resigned and signed a motion of no confidence.

Chief Minister Lama has dismissed four ministers who signed against him. He had appointed new ministers in four vacant ministries and decided a strategy to deal with the motion of no confidence . But with the defeat of the leader of the parliamentary party on Tuesday, the pressure has increased to pave the way for him to resign as the chief minister.

22 out of the 37 provincial MPs of the Congress in Bagmati have signed in favor of the no-confidence motion. A motion of no confidence has been registered under the leadership of Congress state president and state MP Baniyan. Both Chief Minister Lama and Baniyan are close leaders of Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba.
