A scooter driver was killed when a truck hit a scooter at Manhari Rural Municipality-7, Ramantar under the East-West highway on Sunday. The woman riding behind the scooter was injured.

Moti Bahadur Chhetri, 51 years old of Chitwan Bharatpur Metropolitan City-11 died when the truck No. 6 B 3040 going from Hetaunda to Chitwan hit the scooter No. Ba Q 03-04 P 1162 coming from Chitwan to Hetaunda. Shyamu Aryal, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Spokesperson of Makwanpur District Police Office, said that Chhetri, who was injured in a truck collision, died in a hospital in Hetaunda during treatment. 

The condition of 36-year-old Narmaya Gurung of Saratpur, Bharatpur Metropolitan City-9, riding behind the scooter is critical. His right leg, hand, head and face were injured. He is being treated at Old Medical College, Chitwan, police said.

The truck driver involved in the accident, 35-year-old Ashok Yadav of Borderbas Municipality-2 of Saptari, has been detained by the police.
