Parliamentarians have collected signatures to remove Bagmati Chief Minister Bahadur Singh Lama as the leader of the Congress parliamentary party. The parliamentarians submitted their signatures on Friday to remove him from the leadership of the party.
21 out of 37 parliamentarians of the parliamentary party have registered a no-confidence motion against him with their signatures due to the activism of Congress Bagmati Province President Indra Bahadur Banian. With the signatures of 21 MPs, the signatures have been handed over to Parliamentary Party Secretary Krishna Kumar Tamang.
21 MPs have signed 19 MPs to remove Bahadur from his position . According to the constitution of the Congress, 25 percent of MPs' signatures are enough to file a motion of no confidence against the leader of the parliamentary party. However, due to the signatures of more than 50 percent of MPs, now the process of selecting a new leader of the parliamentary party will proceed, said MP Chiringdorje Lama. Four ministers who participated in the Lama-led government resigned from the Congress.
