A motorcycle driver was killed in a collision with a pick-up vehicle carrying goods at Chitwan Ratnanagar municipality-3 Shantichek on the East-West Mahendra highway last night. 35-year-old Mukund Kandel of Kalika Municipality-2 died in the accident.
At around 12:30 midnight, a pick-up vehicle with number 2-02-001 F 0510 coming from Khairhani towards Tandi hit a mater cycle number 06-001 P 3509.
The motorcycle driven by Kandel was going to Khairhani from Tandi. Chitwan District Police Office spokesperson DSP Ravindra Khanal said that the pick-up vehicle was trying to overtake the night bus number 03-001 B 3365 going from Janakpur to Kathmandu when it collided with the motorcycle. DSP Khanal said that the motorcycle driver Kandel, who was seriously injured due to the collision, was put in an ambulance and admitted to the government hospital in Bharatpur for treatment. Hospital doctors According to DSP Khanal, Kandel was pronounced dead at 1:19 PM.
30-year-old from Lekhnath in Kaski, the driver of the pickup vehicle that hit Humes Lamgade and the driver, 34-year-old Dhruvaraj Pakharel of Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality-3 of Kaski, have been arrested and kept in the area police office Ratnanagar Tandi.
They are also slightly injured. Due to the collision, the driver's side window of the night bus was also broken. DSP Khanal said that because there was nothing else, the bus was sent to its destination.
