The baby elephant has been named after the late conservationist Ved Kumar Khadka. Bhale Chhawa, born on June 28 at the Government Elephant Breeding Center in Chitwan Khorsor, was named on Wednesday.

Khadka passed away last May. Chief Conservation Officer Pant said that the chhawa has been named in the memory and honor of conservationist Khadka.
