Due to the incessant rain on Saturday evening, the Jure section of Arani Highway was blocked due to landslides and mudslides. The road has been closed since Saturday night when a landslide came from the upper section.
According to the Charikot road division office, motorcycles and small vehicles have been cleared, but large vehicles and containers have stopped on the road. "On Sunday, electricity poles fell in Jure, rivers and floodwaters are flowing on the roads, making it difficult to even walk on foot. The road has washed away in Mahbhir,' said Balkrishna Shrestha, head of the district coordination committee.
Excavators and loaders are being used to remove landslides. Locals of Tatopani, Tripurasundari Rural Municipality and Bahrbise Nagar have been affected by the landslide. The vehicles going to these places are stuck in the landslide. Containers that have returned from Tatopani crossing to Kathmandu with material have stopped a little beyond Jure.
'Patients and travelers are risking their way to the Ledo river of Jure landslide, they should walk like this every day,' said local Navaraj Rayamazhi.
