Courts led by women judges are agile in performance

What you should know

After federalism, the number of women in government and private sector leadership is increasing. Along with politics, education and financial sector, women have started to reach leadership roles in administration of justice. The performance of the courts led by women has also been found to be satisfactory. Recent examples of this are the High Court Patan Hetaunda Bench and Makwanpur District Court.

Hetaunda Bench and Makwanpur District Court Women Judges are from Hankireh . There are 5 women judges in the Patan Hetaunda Bench of the High Court. They have proved the Hetaunda bench admirable for two years . 4 women judges are administering justice in Makwanpur District Court. Which has proven to be the best in justice.

Judges Yamuna Bhattarai, Shakuntala Ghimire, Meena Gautam Sedhain, Nirmala Poudel and Sanumaya Dangol are working in the Hetaunda bench. Even though there are seven judges, 5 people are ruling the Hetaunda bench . Until recently there were 6 women judges . After the transfer of Judge Shanta Sedai a month ago, only 5 people are working.

The Patan High Court had initially assigned Judge Yamuna Bhattarai to the Hetaunda Bench. Later, registrar Ramu Sharma said that 4 more judges were also sent by women. He said that because she is a woman, she does not have to listen to complaints that there is a delay in the administration of justice or other problems, but she is ahead in the administration of justice.

"We are very ahead in the field of administration of justice in this bench with only female judges," said Registrar Sharma, "It depends on the decision of the above as to who will be assigned to which bench". The officials of the Hetaunda court say that the administration of justice has been proceeding smoothly for two years . He says, 'The justice of the cases has been done on time, with the increase in the number of cases, the rate of judgment is also good.' Courts led by women judges are agile in performance

Makwanpur's legal practitioners believe that the administration of justice will be more fair and serious. Not only the judges of the bench, but also other employees in the court are more than half of women .

There are 18 benches of 7 high courts across the country. There are only 30 female employees including all the judges in Hetaunda Bench of Patan High Court. There are only 23 male employees in the Hetaunda bench, which has 53 employees including 5 judges. Previously, the registrar here was also a woman .

Patan Hetaunda Bench of High Court has disposed of 72 percent of cases in the last financial year . 1,727 cases were registered in the Hetaunda court in 081/82, including the transfer of responsibility. Out of the registration, 1 thousand 247 cases were dismissed. There were 1,619 cases here in the previous financial year. Among them, 1,245 cases were dismissed. There are zero cases in the Hetaunda bench, which has jurisdiction over Chitwan and Makwanpur.

All the four judges working in Makwanpur district court are women . Judges Avni Mainali Bhattarai, Geeta Shrestha, Shakuntala Karki and Purnima Koirala are holding the district bench. District court judges are also women . Roshi Bhandari Srestedar and Babita Basnet are working as Tehsildar in District Court.

There is good progress in the administration of justice in courts run by women . There are 26 female and 34 male employees in the district court, which has a total of 60 employees including 4 judges. "This is the first time that 4 female judges have ruled the district court at the same time," said Keshavraj Kaushik, the information officer of the court, "so far there has been no question about the administration of justice by female judges." "Judges do not belong to any gender, men and women do not make any difference in administering justice," she said. The administration of justice is fair.

District Court Makwanpur 081/82 has managed to dispose of about 70 percent of the cases. The number of cases is about 11 percent higher than the previous financial year . In 081/82, 4 thousand 150 cases including 1 thousand 597 cases transferred and 2 thousand 553 newly registered cases were pending in the district court . Among them, 2 thousand 868 cases, i.e. 69.11 percent of the cases, were dismissed, said Bhandari, Srestedar of the court. Only 2 cases exceeding 2 years are pending in District Court Makwanpur . In 080/81 there were 22 cases exceeding 2 years .

Senior advocate Ishwar Dhakal says that women are capable of leading in all fields, which has been further proved by the Hetaunda Bench of the High Court and Makwanpur District Court. "The speed of work in both courts is good," he said. Another lawyer, Madan Dahal, says that the presence of a female judge is more convenient and safer for women involved in sexual, domestic violence or family cases.
