Along with federalism, the name of the then District Public Health Office was also changed. Even though the health office was named under the provincial government, the new name did not last long. It was renamed the Public Health Office. The name is back. But the employees according to the rank are still not there.

Although there are 21 posts in the public health office of Chitwan, only 12 posts have been filled. There are more contract employees than permanent employees.

In coordination with the local, state and federal government, the public health promotion office has not been filled according to the posts, but it has been managed by contract employees. Dinesh Rupakheti, head of Public Health Office, said that there are only 15 employees in the office, including 10 people on scholarship and contracts. He said that even the permanent employees had to work in a distributed manner.

Public Health Office Information Officer Indramani Bhandari said that the accounting officer of the office also oversees the responsibility of the provincial accounting unit. We have to work with contract employees. There was no such big problem. But there is a problem of non-regularity if the work is done by contract employees instead of permanent ones. On the other hand, the permanent employees also have to look at the accounts of two offices," said Bhandari.

After the announcement of the new constitution and the implementation of federalism in the country, the name of the district public health office was "Health Office" from February 3, 2074, being under the Ministry of Social Development of the state government. But after 6 years, the old name Public Health Office has been established since January 2089. The office has been doing health awareness campaigns, disease testing camps and coordination works.

Health examination of 6.5 thousand people, obesity in 20 percent

The office held a press conference in Bharatpur on Sunday morning and released the details of the work done in the current financial year. The head of the office, Dinesh Rupakheti, said that the month of February will be celebrated as the campaign month against non-communicable diseases, and that time 6 thousand 759 people were examined in all the seven municipalities of the district. Out of which about 20 percent i.e. 1 thousand 297 people are obese.

'Obesity can cause heart and diabetes problems. So you have to be careful. We have been advising to adopt various methods to reduce obesity' said Rupakheti. Similarly, among those tested, 878 people had high blood pressure, 522 people had diabetes and 239 people had albumin in their urine. Rupakheti said that seeing albumin may have affected the kidneys.

Similarly, during the eye examination of 1,060 people in all seven local levels, 75 people were found to have cataract problems. Head of Public Health Office Dinesh Rupakheti informed that 853 women were tested to find out if they had breast cancer because 53 women were likely to have cancer.

He also informed that a debate advocacy program was held in the district about the Sale, Distribution and Control Act 2049 of products that replace mother's milk for infants. Dengue outbreak starts in Chitwan with summer yam and monsoon. Last year, dengue took the form of an epidemic around the Muglin market in Ichchakamana Rural Municipality, a hilly part of Chitwan. He also said that this year they have started an awareness campaign such as searching for and destroying mosquito larvae that cause dengue, and not allowing clean water to freeze in drains.
