Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality has been announced as a local level to ensure full coverage. With the slogan 'Local ownership and participation: Ensuring complete immunization is our commitment', the metropolis was declared the local level for ensuring complete immunization and sustainability on Wednesday.

Out of the 6 local levels of the district, Mahanagara Purnakhop is the fifth local level to be declared as a local level of assurance and sustainability. Earlier, Chief of District Public Health Office Dr. Bhuvan Paudel informed that Mahankal Rural Municipality in the south-eastern part of Lalitpur, Mahalakshmi Municipality within Kathmandu Valley on May 11th, Bagmati Rural Municipality on May 13th and Konjyosom Rural Municipality on May 31st announced full immunization and sustainability at the local level.

Giving a speech at the local level declaration program to ensure full coverage, Metropolitan Chief Chiribabu Maharjan said that Lalitpur Metropolis has achieved excellent results in the health sector through the collective efforts of health workers, employees and public representatives.  'We have been awarded as the best among 293 municipalities by the Municipal Association, we are getting significant support from the District Public Health and the World Health Organization, we are ready to maintain it by monitoring closely,' he said.

The representative of World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Sagar Shakya urged to maintain sustainability along with the declaration of full vaccination assurance and congratulated him for being successful in announcing it before Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

Public Health Branch Chief Sarita Maharjan informed that the National Vaccination Program is a priority program of the Nepal government implemented with the intention of reducing child mortality.

The vaccination campaign that started in 2034 at the national level is now being considered as an indicator of sustainable development goals, and work is being done in preparation for the announcement of full vaccination at the local level through the district and the country itself.

In accordance with the policy of achieving sustainable development goals approved by all the member states of the United Nations, including Nepal, in 2015, the full immunization campaign and sustainability declaration campaign is continuing throughout the country.
