Kailash Rural Municipality of Makwanpur has been conducting Cheli Samman program with the aim of reducing child marriage. The rural municipality has been honoring girls who have completed 20 years of age who have passed class-12 of marginalized and targeted communities.

This year too, to discourage child marriage, the rural municipality has honored 7 daughters on the occasion of the 16th village meeting.

Under the program included in the annual policy and program of the municipality, Sanumaya Syangtan of Kailash-9, Radhika Titung, Sharmila Moktan of Kailash-10, Savina Moktan, Elina Moktan, Kamala Shrestha of Kailash-5, Parvati Subedi of Kailash-6 were honored with 20,000 rupees and certificates. Lok Bahadur Muktan, chairman of

rural municipality, said that the girls' incentive program was held to convey the message that they should at least pass class 12 and complete 20 years of age before marriage. According to him, the rural municipality has allocated a budget of 5 lakh rupees for the girl child promotion program.
