Hetauda sub-metropolitan city has launched 'Megha Kitchen' for mid-day meals in 9 schools. "Megha Kitchen" has been brought into operation for students studying in 9 schools located in 6, 16, 17, 18 of the sub-metropolitan city targeting the management of students' mid-day meals.
According to Hetaunda Sub-Metropolitan Education Development Division, lunch will be distributed from the kitchen of Balbodh Mavi in Hetaunda-17, targeting the schools of 4 wards of the sub-metropolitan city. Although the federal government has managed 'Megha Kitchen' in all the states of the country in the current fiscal year 2081/082, the work of distributing lunch has been started from Hetaunda of Bagmati province.
Education Division Head Sitaram Koirala informed that the work has been progressed by forming the Megha Kitchen Management Committee under the chairmanship of Pradeep Aryal, chairman of Balbodh Mavi Management Committee for lunch distribution. President Aryal informed that arrangements have been made to deliver lunch to Vansagopal, Janapriya, Lakshmi Aadharbhut, Jyoti, Gorakshaswar, Kamala, Divyajyoti and Rajdevi Mabi from the kitchen along with Balbodh.
Koirala, the head of the division, said that despite the budget for lunch management in the month of Chaitra from the federal government, the kitchen has only recently been put into operation while internal work was being arranged. According to him, 7,000 students studying up to class 10 in nine schools of 4 wards will benefit from the lunch. According to the national standards, the kitchen should prepare and distribute 6 kinds of lunch for 6 days of school operation. It is said that
kitchen management can also do the work of lunch distribution by giving priority to local products. Mayor Meena Kumari Lama, Deputy Mayor Rajesh Baniyan, Chairman of Hetaunda 18 Anil Kumar Baniyan, Head of Education Division Koirala have monitored and inspected the operational kitchen. In the current financial year, the federal government has allocated a budget of 50 million rupees for the operation of the
kitchen. After the monitoring, Mayor Lama has suggested to manage the lunch keeping in mind the health of the students.
