At Kodari (Eco) located in Bhotekosi rural municipality-2 of the district, the Tatopani checkpoint, which was blocked due to a flood, has been operational since Friday.  Four days ago, five meters of the road was washed away in Kodari of the international Kodari highway (26 km) connecting China.

As the highway was completely blocked, dozens of containers carrying goods from China were stopped at Liping for customs procedures. Along with the passage of the border, the containers stopped there have gone to customs at Larcha.

The landslide was removed from Thursday evening, but it remained blocked for some time and on Friday, the road was fully opened after repairs, said Engineer Suraj Maharjan of the office of Charikot Road Division. "On Wednesday itself, the road was made smooth by removing the blockage of Khakundol and Koplan, in which two excavators were used, and the Belybridge was connected to Larcha," he said.

Earlier too, the checkpoint was closed after about 15 feet of the road was washed away in the Koplan area. This is the second time the crossing has been completely blocked this year. Tatopani Canal has been frequently affected by natural disasters since the past.  However, the lack of alternative arrangements has made passengers and businessmen uncomfortable.
