Kanti Lokpath will be operational from Sunday

Kanti Lokpath, the road connecting Kathmandu, will be operational from Sunday. Kanti Lokpath will be put into operation from Sunday as the belay bridge will be installed on Bagmati river bridge towards Makwanpur under Kanti Lokpath by Saturday night.

"Even if we work till 12 o'clock on Saturday night, we will bring the Kanti Lokpath into operation from Sunday morning," said Ratnalakshmi Bajracharya, head of the Kanti Lokpath road project. Project engineer Sajan Neupane said that gabions are also being installed for the protection of Beilibridge.

On October 11th and 12th, after the flood in the Bagmati river washed away a span of the Bagmati bridge towards Makwanpur, the Kanti Lokpath was made operational by making an access road of mud and sand. After the flood in Bagmati river washed away the access road before the start of rainy season, the belay bridge is going to be installed at that place.

The Kanti Lokpath road project has closed the Lokpath for four days from 21st June i.e. Wednesday to 24th i.e. Saturday and installed the Beilibridge. Bhimfedi Rural Municipality-8 of Makwanpur and Bagmati Rural Municipality-2 of Lalitpur, a span of Bagmati river bridge towards Makwanpur was washed away by flood on October 11th and 12th.

Kanti Lokpath road project has installed a 24.4 meter long and 5 meter wide belay bridge at that location. According to the project, the construction company has been given a contract for about 1.5 crores to carry out protection works such as belay bridge connection and cabins.

When the Kanti Lokpath was closed for four days, vehicles plying Hetaunda-Kathmandu and Kathmandu-Hetaunda have been using Kulekhani-Kalanki-Humane or Kulekhani-Sisneri-Pharping road.
