Ward president arrested on the charge of selling the bridge washed away by the flood

Ashok Gautam, the ward chairman of Roshi Rural Municipality Ward No. 7 of Kavre, has been arrested in the case of theft of bridge materials.

District Police Office Kavre Information Officer DSP Meen Bahadur Ghale informed that Ward President Ashok Gautam was arrested on the charge of stealing the materials of the iron bridge washed away by floods after continuous rains on October 12 and selling them in kabaddi. He was arrested by the team of District Police Office Kavre on Monday.

According to DSP Ghale, due to the incessant rain from October 10 to 12, 2081, the flood in the Roshi river caused the Namobuddha municipality ward no. 6 and Roshi rural municipality ward no. 7  The connecting iron bridge was washed away . The rest of the iron materials of the same bridge were illegally sold in junkyards. .  During the

investigation, according to the statement given by junk businessman Mantu Kumar, Chairman Gautam took the money received from the sale of the bridge materials through mobile banking. According to the police, Gautam was detained based on the statement of the businessman and proof of payment.

District Police Office Kavre has informed that the sale process was revealed through the mutual consent of Chairman Gautam and Ward Chairman Tika Bahadur KC of Namobuddha Municipality-6. According to the police, when the rest of the bridge was sold to junkyards, they had agreed to share the price half-half. 

The police have also detained two tippers who were called to load at night. The arrested businessmen had submitted the recommendation of the ward office and proof of payment. According to the police, further investigation is being done based on those evidences. 

According to DSP Ghale, based on the available evidence, a theft-related case has been registered against those arrested. He informed that there is a schedule to submit them to District Court Kavre on Tuesday for extension.

32-year-old Mantu Kumar of Bihar Motihari, India, currently living in Kavre Banepa-7, 39-year-old Mantu Kumar of Sarlahi, Malangwa-3, currently living in Banepa-7  Jitendra Paswan and the tipper driver of Ba 5 B 4626 of Bhumlu Rural Municipality-9  The police have already arrested 47-year-old Man Bahadur Tamang and 40-year-old Ramesh Lama of Tipper Roshi Rural Municipality-8 of Ba 2 B 4001. The police said that a case has been registered against all of them and further investigation has been started.
