Khir at the Girls Ashram and Chepang Hostel on Milk Day

On the occasion of World Milk Day, kheer feeding program was completed in Chitwan Devghatdham girls' ashram and Chepang student hostel in Ratnanagar Mangalpur on Sunday. The program was organized by District Milk Producers Cooperative Society Limited with the help of Chitwan Animal Services Office. This year is the 25th World Milk Day.

The district milk cooperative has been organizing a program at the girl's ashram on milk day for the last three years. The girls living in Sri Ramjan's Balika Ashram of Lok Kalyan Seva Pratishthan towards Chitwan in Devghat study in the Kanya Gurukulam there. Similarly, Chepang children and teenagers have been studying in schools and colleges near the hostels, staying in the hostels run by the Gambesi Chepang Conservation Center in Mangalpur.

Chitwan District Vice President of Dairy Cooperative, Rameshwar Oli, said that the program for children was held on the occasion of World Milk Day because information about the nutrition and usage methods of milk would increase consumption. The chief guest of the program, Bhagirath Timilsina, Vice President of Dairy Central Cooperative, opined that since milk farmers are in crisis, the state and the community should think about the welfare of the farmers.

'We are producing milk . But the produced milk can be sold . Despite barely selling, the payment has stopped on time . It is necessary to encourage the government to think about the farmers who are in such a problem," said Timilsina. Kishore Bagale, Chairman of the District Milk Producers' Cooperative, said that the farmers of Chitwan have yet to receive payment of 80 million rupees for the sale of milk.

'Milk development institute itself has not given payment up to 6 months . There are also private dairy industries that do not pay for seven months. "Nepali farmers are in a big trouble," District President Bagale said. 40/42 dairy industries have taken milk from Chitwan. He said that there are only two or four dairy industries that regularly pay money after 15 days. According to

President Bagale, there are 115 milk producer cooperatives in Chitwan. He informed that 40 thousand farmers are involved. There is a data that 3 lakh 50 thousand liters of milk is produced daily in the district. 51/52 percent of the milk produced in the district goes outside the district. He said that the situation where farmers do not get proper price and payment but consumers have to eat at high prices should end.
