A 100-bed trauma and emergency center with modern facilities is going to be constructed in Dhulikhel hospital in the district. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli laid the foundation stone of the center, which is being built in collaboration with the Government of Nepal and the Government of Japan, on Wednesday.

He laid the foundation stone of the trauma center and claimed that it marks the beginning of a new era in the health sector of Nepal. He said that there is a need for such a center in emergency treatment and emergency health services.  Addressing the

program, Health and Population Minister Pradip Paudel said that the trauma center to be built in Dhulikhel hospital premises will help to add new ones to the health sector. According to the government's plan to expand trauma centers in all seven provinces, this project has reached its final stage. 

Mentioning that more reforms are needed in the health sector, he said that there is a plan to provide financial subsidies to community hospitals in the budget of the current financial year. In addition, he also said that the policy of strengthening the insurance system to expand access to health services and bringing insurance to all citizens through a one-door system has been put forward. 

The hospital's executive director Prof. Dr. Ramkanth Makaju Shrestha informed that an agreement has been reached between the Japan International Cooperation Agency and the Ministry of Finance to invest 3.879 billion Japanese yen for the construction of the trauma center. According to him, for this, the Ministry of Health and Population will be the executive body of this project and Dhulikhel Hospital will be the implementing body. 

This center, which will be built with the target of completion by 2027, aims to provide state-of-the-art services to injured and emergency patients in the areas of Kavre, Ramechhap, Dolakha, Sindhupalchok, Sindhuli, Bhaktapur and Terai road network. He said. According to him, with the use of equipment such as MRI, city scan, ventilator, and X-ray, it is hoped to be able to give timely treatment to the patient. 

He said that the new initiative that is about to start in this hospital, which has been providing quality health services for three decades, is expected to make a great contribution to the health security of the eastern hilly region. Dhulikhel Hospital had introduced the concept of trauma center since 2014. The head of the center, Prof.Dr. Deepak Shrestha said.
