Targeting monsoon and other possible disasters, preparedness and response action plans have been released through 12 different clusters in Kavrepalanchok.

In a program organized by the District Disaster Management Committee on Monday, disaster response action plans were presented from clusters such as health, education, drinking water and sanitation, infrastructure development, social security, environment, industry and commerce, agriculture, food and animal services, urban development office, security agencies, and communication sector.

District Disaster Management Committee Coordinator and Chief District Officer Umesh Kumar Dhakal said that emphasis has been placed on the implementation of cluster-based plans to ensure effective response while minimizing the risk of disasters that may occur in the coming days. 

According to him, the purpose of this program is to make extensive preparations at the district level before the onset of monsoon, to minimize loss of life and property from possible disasters and to ensure a quick and effective response in case of an emergency. The cluster representatives participating in the

program discussed each other's plans and responsibilities and emphasized on coordination and cooperation. According to the District Disaster Management Committee, the target has been taken to reduce risk and make emergency response effective by completing the necessary preparations before the onset of monsoon. 

First aid for the injured and sick in the event of a possible flood, landslide or other disaster, focusing on the management of medical supply, public health awareness and emergency health services, assessing the impact of disasters on schools, promoting the concept of safe schools, preparing alternative learning and distributing materials related to risk reduction, ensuring access to safe drinking water during disasters, storage and supply of sanitary materials, conducting public awareness programs, immediate rescue, mobilization of manpower, road and communication management, emergency management plan Action plans were presented from various clusters focusing on active participation, making information flow fast, effective and accurate, and implementing strategies to deliver disaster-related information to the community level.

District Disaster Management Committee Head of District Coordination Committee Deepak Kumar Gautam said that the action plans presented by the District Disaster Management Committee are ready to be sent to all 13 local levels of the district. According to him, the disaster management committees at the local level will be facilitated and coordinated to implement these plans according to the local context. 

The aim is to make disaster management effective through cluster coordination and multi-sectoral collaboration.  He emphasized that disaster management should be based on integrated and multi-sectoral coordination. "Disaster response is not the responsibility of only one agency or sector," he said.
