Disaster volunteer training has been started for 40 people from 12 wards of Kavre's Panauti municipality. Armed Police Force Nepal, Gan No. 15 Headquarters, Kavre, in collaboration with Panauti Municipality, started disaster volunteer basic training targeting 40 people from 12 wards within the city area from Monday.
Starting from Monday In the three-day training, it has been informed that pre-disaster preparation, post-disaster rescue, relief and coordination exercises will be conducted. Inaugurating the
training, Chief District Officer Umesh Kumar Dhakal stated that community level activism is indispensable in disaster management and he said, "Ward level volunteers can play an effective role in situations where security agencies cannot reach immediately." He said that disaster risk reduction is possible through awareness. In the
program, Deputy Head of Panauti Municipality, Gita Banjara, recalled the damage caused by the floods, landslides and incessant rains that occurred in the month of Baisakh in the past, and pointed out the need to be aware of such incidents at the public level and to be aware of disasters. Giving information about the
training, Prem Prasai, chief police superintendent of Armed Police Force Nepal, Gana No. 15, said that the contribution of trained volunteers in rescue and relief work after disaster is important. He informed that the training, which is being conducted with the technical support of Nepal Red Cross Society, Kavre branch, is being prepared to be extended to other municipalities of the district as well.
