A sustainable forest management program has been implemented in four community forests of Dolakha. The Division Forest Office has implemented the sustainable forest management program of Khorthali and Thangsa Deurali of Bhimeshwar municipality, Jireshwari of Jiri and special community forests of Vaityashwar Rural Municipality.
Krishnaraj Neupane, Head of the Division Forest Office, said that in these community forests, there will be regeneration cutting, species conversion and other works. According to him, about 83,000 cubic feet of wood will be cut when the four community forests are managed sustainably. He said that this community forest will earn about 13 million for this wood.
From Thangsa Deurali of Bhimeshwar-1, Division Forest will remove the trees dried by the fire. 2000 trees will be cut every year to manage the Khorthali dense forest due to the loss of forest conditions. In Khorthali, species transformation and new plant exhibition will be made.
According to the program of the Ministry of Forests and Environment of the Bagmati State Government, the sustainable forest management program has been started for the first time to connect the forest with the economic sector, he said. He said that sustainable forest management will also help in reducing carbon emissions. "We have started forest management by making a sustainable action plan for 60 years," he said, "according to which there will be about 4 forest managements this year, the community forest will earn 13 million rupees." He said that Maui trees will be placed in the areas where
trees have been cut. It is planned to start this program in 50 community forests of the district from next year. "The community grew the forest, made it denser, but due to lack of sustainable management, they were not able to get income," he said, "we started as a pilot project, after observing many community forests, they asked to help in sustainable forest management."
Every year, when hundreds of hectares of forest are destroyed by fires, hundreds of thousands of trees are burnt and destroyed, so he started this program for sustainable management. According to him, trees with girth above 40 inches will be cut by the procedure. At present, a 10-year procedure has been made.
