A rural municipality of Makwanpur has established a water quality testing laboratory because of water itself causing various diseases.
Raksirang Rural Municipality has established a testing laboratory to test the quality of drinking water used by the residents of the municipality. This is the first water testing laboratory established by the municipality in Makwanpur.
Village chairman Rajkumar Malla said that the laboratory was established with the aim of improving the health awareness of the locals by checking the water quality of the water sources and streams of the poor villages. While inaugurating the laboratory established in Raksirang Rural Municipality-5 Thadochuri on Friday, GAPA President Malla said, 'Because of the water itself, the residents of the municipality are suffering from various diseases, the laboratory has been established to test the quality of water.' It is said that 11 different types of drinking water will be tested in the laboratory established at a cost of 12 lakh rupees. The amount of iron, chloride, phosphate, coliform etc. in drinking water will be tested in the laboratory.
Two health workers of the health branch working in the municipality have been trained in water testing and brought into operation in the laboratory. After the establishment of a water testing laboratory in the municipality, the need to go to Hetaunda and Chitwan to test the water has been removed, said Malla, the chairman of the municipality.
