The fire in two community forests of Tokarpur of Doramba-Shailung Rural Municipality-3 of Ramechhap has become uncontrollable.
The fire that broke out in the Laliguras community forest from Friday morning has gone out of control and has reached another nearby Chharechhap community forest.
The chairman of Ward No. 3, Santalal Thapa Magar, said that despite efforts made by the Nepali Army in Doramba to control the fire, it was difficult to put it out due to the strong wind. "Due to the strong wind, the fire has become uncontrollable," he said. He said that the settlements are not at risk due to the fire. Ramkumar Shrestha, Ranger of Division One, said that efforts are being made by Division One and locals to control the fire along with security personnel.
"Due to the strong wind, the fire has spread widely," he said, "It is very difficult because it is a forest on steep land, and it is seen that it will be controlled only if it rains."
Due to the uncontrollable nature of the fire, it can be brought under control only after reaching the Shailung area of Dolakha, he said. He said that the fire has destroyed more than 60 hectares of forest area of two community forests. Meanwhile, in Ramechhapai on Saturday afternoon, the locals are panicked due to the fear of coming towards the burnt settlement of Lisekhani Community Forest of Gokulganga rural municipality-4 Betali. Locals have said that more than 5 houses are at risk due to the fire. Locals along with security personnel are trying to control the fire.
