Makwanpur police arrested a young man with opium. Police arrested 32-year-old Rajkumar Tamang of Manhari-8 who was coming from Devkot in the inner road section of Makwanpur Manhari Rural Municipality-8 towards Manhari on a motorcycle with 2 kg 530 grams of opium. While checking the motorcycle of the police, the police found opium hidden in plastic in Legad.
The police of Manahari in IPR said that opium was found when they stopped and checked the vehicles coming from Devkot towards the highway. The police said that the police seized the motorcycle and Tamang along with the opium. The police have taken permission from Makwanpur District Court Hetaunda for 8 days for further investigation.
According to the District Police Office, 9 people were arrested with 38 kg and 400 grams of opium in 8 months of the current year in Makwanpur. There is a legal provision in which the court can fine a person caught with 100 grams of opium for opium smuggling and trafficking and from 15 years to life imprisonment and a fine of 500,000 to 2500,000 rupees.
