An important Ladi festival of the Majhi community was celebrated on Tuesday in Wakaiya Rural Municipality-6 Juina. The junction of Wakaiya river, Sukoura river, Simat river and Hardi river is Juina.
Chinimaya Majhi, president of the Central Committee of Nepal Majhi Utthan Sangh, said that this year Ladi festival was celebrated at the junction of four rivers in Juina.
The river is called Ladi in Majhi language. The identity and traditions of the Majhi community are connected with this festival. Traditionally, the Majhi community, who live on the banks of the river and live by fishing, worship the river during this festival. Majhi Utthan Sangh Central Committee, Majhi leaders of Bagmati province and local Majhi community celebrated Ladi festival this year by worshiping on the banks of the river at Juina.
On the occasion of Ladi festival, the Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Bahadur Singh Lama Tamang, was present at Juina and expressed his best wishes to the Majhi communities. On the day of the Ladi festival, the Majhi community was informed about the public holiday. Chief Minister Lama said that only if they can keep their language and culture alive, the caste identity will last forever.
Ladi Puja has been celebrated by making an apple tree at the mouth of Juina River. In that place Mangal Bahadur Majhi, the leader of the community, started the worship by offering a goat. A pair of hen roosters and A pair of pigeons was also sacrificed.

The Bagmati state government has also given a public holiday to the Majhi community on the day of the Ladi festival, i.e. February 20. was . Bakia Rural Municipality gave a public holiday on the occasion of Ladi festival.
According to the 2078 census, the population of the Majhi community in Nepal is 111,342. There is a population of 41 thousand 671 Majhi community in Bagmati province. Among the seven provinces, the largest number of Majhi communities reside in Bagmati Province.
